A small church with a big heart

Welcome to our church!

In 1992, the Anglican and Methodist congregations of Thorpe Hesley and Scholes joined together to make one church, using Holy Trinity for services after the closure of the local Methodist churches. In the uniting of Methodists and Anglicans, Holy Trinity became a Local Ecumenical Partnership.
Hello! I’m Reverend Lynn Broadhead, the Vicar of Thorpe Hesley and Scholes.

When I took the post back in 2015, I was no stranger to our community having spent my first two years as a newly ordained curate here back in 2011.

You might see me walking around the village! I hope if you do, you will feel free to come up and have a chat. Please do remember that Holy Trinity is there for you and I really want to hear how as your parish priest and your parish church can best serve you.

Everyone is welcome to come along to our services. It is your church and we would love to see you there!

God bless,
Lynn x

Baptisms

We can be baptised at any age and for adults wishing to be baptised, we offer a short course for those wanting to explore the Christian faith before making any decision.

When you meet with the vicar, she will book a service date for you. We ask all those preparing for baptism to commit to regularly coming along to the monthly ‘Family Service’ held on the first Sunday of each month at 10am.

Weddings

If you would like to arrange a wedding service to take place at Holy Trinity, we would love to meet with you and help you in your marriage and preparation for your wedding.

Whilst preparing for your wedding, it is worth taking a look at the Church of England website which has some really useful information and advice regarding your wedding service in the church. www.yourchurchwedding.org

Funerals

Holy Trinity is committed to helping families at this difficult time. Funeral Directors usually contact the local clergy who will then arrange a time to call and talk things through.

Services may take place at church followed by a burial in the churchyard or at the crematorium. The vicar is often asked to lead services at the local crematorium plus we can also help with outdoor service or green burial sites.
